Hlumisa was first conceived as an interactive forum event for young climate leaders between ECCo and Bushfire Festival in 2020 – only for the event to be derailed by the onset of the Covid-19 pandemic.
In 2021, the revision process of Eswatini’s Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) reinvigorated Hlumisa, bringing fresh young minds and ideas to the table, forming a steering committee and kick-starting a process of planning and brainstorming for youth-led climate action.
In 2022 Hlumisa was launched at the first edition of the Green Round Table – an annual event for young environmentalists in collaboration with Bushfire.
What We Do
Hlumisa is a volunteer run movement focused on holding physical and digital platforms for gathering and collective learning in Eswatini, as well as projects that focus on creative arts, education and general climate advocacy.
